Common questions
What clients ask before enquiring
Before you commit
How do you decide what system we need?
You tell us the equipment you want to keep running and for how long. We do a system and load assessment, then design around that — so the proposal is sized for your actual load rather than a package we happen to stock.
What happens before we pay anything?
The assessment and the system proposal come first. You see what we intend to install and what it will do before any payment.
Do you only supply, or do you install as well?
We design, supply, install and commission the system, and we support it afterwards. The team that designs it is the team that hands it over.
Do you work outside Malawi?
Our work is mainly across Malawi, and we have delivered for clients in Mozambique. Tell us where the site is and we'll confirm.
Can you provide documents for a tender or procurement process?
Yes. The proposal sets out the design, equipment and quote in a form your procurement or finance team can review, and we can answer technical clarifications directly.
Choosing a system
Do you cover solar and backup, or just one?
Both, and the mix in between — grid‑tied solar, hybrid solar with batteries, off‑grid solar, and battery backup or UPS on their own.
What's the difference between an inverter backup and a UPS?
A UPS keeps sensitive equipment on an unbroken, clean supply through the moment of an outage and usually for a short period after. Inverter backup carries a wider load for hours. Many sites need both, sized for different equipment.
Can you work with what we already have?
Often, yes. Existing inverters, batteries, panels or generators are assessed as part of the design, and we tell you honestly what is worth keeping.
Will it work alongside our generator?
Yes, if we design the changeover for it. The aim is for the generator to run rarely, as a last resort, instead of every outage.
Can the system grow later?
Yes, if it is designed for it. Tell us if you expect to add load or storage, and we size the inverter and wiring so you can extend without starting again.
Installation
How long does an installation take?
It depends on the size of the system. Once the design is agreed we give you an installation date and agree any shutdown window in advance, so the site is never switched off by surprise.
Will the power need to be switched off?
Usually only for the final connection. That window is agreed with you beforehand and can be scheduled outside working hours.
Where does the equipment go?
Placement is agreed during the assessment — batteries and inverters need ventilation, access for servicing and protection from heat and water, and panels need an unshaded roof or ground area.
After handover
What maintenance does it need?
Less than a generator. We explain what to check at handover and stay available for servicing and faults afterwards.
How long do the batteries last?
It depends on the battery type and how deeply and often it is used. The proposal states the expected life for the batteries specified, so replacement can be budgeted rather than discovered.
What about warranties?
Equipment warranties come from the manufacturers, and the terms for each item are listed in the proposal. We handle claims on your behalf for systems we installed.
Who do we call if something goes wrong?
Us. The team that installed the system handles faults and after‑sales support, so you are not passed between a supplier and an installer.
Question not here?
Send it with your enquiry — we answer before any assessment is booked.
Start with the list of what you need to keep running
Send us the equipment and how long you need it to run without mains power. We do the load assessment, design the system and come back to you with a proposal and a quote.
